If you are anticipating an upcoming excavation project at your house or on your property, it is a good idea to take a little time to get familiar with the process just a bit before it gets started. Part of familiarizing yourself with excavation is understanding a few of the most commonly used terms and phrases in the industry.
Fill dirt or filler dirt, is just dirt that may be brought in from a different location and used to fill a specific area.
Rough grading is often performed at the end of an excavation project to restore the levelness of the ground. During the rough grading process, the excavator will make various cuts into the ground and use filler dirt to accomplish a more level terrain.
A trenched dig is what will be used if you are having a line installed on your property beneath the ground, but is also used in French drain installation and other property transforming excavation projection. This simply means creating a trench on the property instead of one
large opening.
